Team and Position Summary

We are a fast growing company seeking another Financial Planning Assistant to assist with that growth. As a high performing Financial Planning Assistant, you will be responsible for providing a consistently high level of planning support in line with defined standards.

  • To provide a consistent level of personalized client service to all active clients of the firm
  • To assist Advisors in the financial planning process including financial reviews, insurance underwriting, managing client relationships and new client acquisitions
  • To follow all corporate and regulatory standards
  • To enable the Advisors to meet and exceed their business plan objectives
  • This role is located in Vancouver

Key Accountabilities

  • Assisting in the preparation of financial plans including analysis, reports and recommendations keeping in mind client’s investment objectives, risk tolerance and resources
  • Assisting in the preparation of investment portfolio reviews and rebalancing
  • Assist with insurance analysis and recommendations
  • Assist with high level administrative support to maintain client service standards
  • Ensuring that client reviews are handled in accordance with NWM client service standards including managing the occurrence of review meetings and scheduling the meetings
  • Assist with the preparation for client meetings in a timely fashion including preparing the agenda, updating net worth statements and preparing retirement projections
  • Fielding client calls/emails on behalf of Advisor, handling client requests where appropriate and following up to ensure requests are completed
  • Competency in NWM Product and service offerings (within 6 months of obtaining position)
  • Competency in NWM planning concepts (within 6 months of obtaining position)
  • Stay abreast of industry trends

Qualifications and Experience

  • Financial industry designation completed or in process of achieving (CFP, RFP, CIM, CFA, CLU, etc.)
  • Holds Life Insurance License (LLQP) or in process of obtaining
  • Minimum of 5 years of financial industry experience, preferably in a financial planning firm with exposure to both insurance and investment planning
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada for any employer

  • Strong analytical and mathematical ability
  • Competency in Microsoft office computer software and all necessary industry related software
  • Competency in NWM Product and service offerings (within 6 months of obtaining position)
  • Competency in NWM planning concepts (within 6 months of obtaining position)
  • Close attention to detail, observant
  • Willingness to learn new skills and acquire additional education as required
  • High degree of professionalism and maturity
  • Ability to take direction and accept responsibility
  • Strong time management skills, particularly the ability to prioritize a multitude of tasks
