Position Summary

This is an opportunity to join a team of marketing professionals responsible for growing and managing the Nicola Wealth Management brand. This role offers a diverse experience through exposure to external partners, such as public relations and digital marketing agencies, as well as interaction with various teams within the firm. This role is best suited to a high-performing, entrepreneurial individual with strong organizational and operational skills.

The qualified candidate will report directly to the Marketing Manager and will set up and improve the project management capabilities of the Marketing department and manage all aspects of external relations including public relations, online campaigns, client communications, and content on the firm’s website, social media, and a variety of other aspects of marketing.


External Relations

  • Manages our external public relations partner/firm
  • Fields all media requests, assess opportunity, coordinates interview, and works to coach interviewees in preparation for the interview
  • Conducts post-interview follow up with the reporter
  • Share all media mentions internally, on the external website, and social media
  • Develops relationships with media contacts and actively works to grow the NWM media lists
  • Stay apprised of industry developments including new social media tools and advancements
  • Develop weekly social media calendars
  • Monitors media for relevant news, NWM quotes, and mentions, as well as NWM clients/partners in the news
  • Manages and submits all awards applications
  • Strategically manages all advertising (awards ads, sponsorship ads, recruitment ads, etc.)
  • Collaborates with Brand to plan deliberate external messaging
  • Organizes related projects to ensure consistent and timely implementation and communications strategies and plans


  • Produce regular email campaigns (i.e. Strategic Outlook invitation series, Monthly Market Commentary, Newsletter distribution, etc.)
  • Produce and distribute bi-annual GIFT newsletter
  • Manage communications lists – MailChimp, SharePoint, and CRM
  • Manage updates to Nicola Wealth Management websites ( and the Client Access Site)
  • Help maintain documents on the SharePoint marketing page
  • Assist with internal communications, as required

Miscellaneous Tasks

  • Liaising with graphic designers for updates to branded materials, i.e. fund one-pagers
  • Final preparation of Client Planning Proposals
  • Drafting/proofing of miscellaneous emails for other departments

Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in Communications, Public Relations or related field
  • 5-8 years’ experience in a comparable role
  • Management experience, an asset
  • Knowledge of finance and wealth management, preferred
  • Experience in journalism or public relations agency
  • Proficient in MS Office, CRM (MS Dynamics), and CMS (WordPress)
  • Proven ability to write, edit, and produce high-quality branded content
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies
