Team and Position Summary

This position requires extensive practical project management experience and be capable of managing multiple technical and non-technical projects from concept to completion. This position will focus on stakeholder management, project planning, scheduling, risk management, and cost control on all strategically important business and technology projects to the organization.

Reporting to the Technology & Information Officer, the Senior Project Manager will be accountable for delivering strategic projects that require overall planning, organization, execution, and control of the project.  The Senior Project Manager role is critical to ensuring that the project is holistically led and managed to ensure success of the full development life cycle activities including vendor management and stakeholder expectation management. The Senior PM has a direct responsibility for all project management, business analysis, and QA activities. Additionally, manages the delivery of projects to ensure that the solution is delivered on time, within budget and scope, and with the quality required. This role is located in Vancouver.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead Project Teams and activities required to successfully deliver projects across the business
  • Principal point of contact with internal customers during project deliveries
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations
  • Provide status reports as required
  • Mitigate issues/risks with the project teams
  • Able to lead multiple business and technology projects simultaneously
  • Assist in vendor selection, qualifying vendors through a structured assessment process
  • Participate in the decisions of the stakeholder committee, considering the three perspectives of project management (needs, resources, solution) in order to ensure the quality of results, and in particular the aspect of schedules and budgets
  • Develop multiple project charters, the project plans (communication, scope, quality, risk, human resources, schedule, financial and environment requirements), and the various project reports.
  • Plan, organize, and control the activities and resources of the delivery group
  • Lead, support, and follow up on the execution of the project plans
  • Define project assignments according to needs and review the performance of team members
  • Maintain overall change control procedure
  • Manage the relationship with the external providers to ensure their performance and products or services meet the contractual agreement
  • Integrate the results of the external providers into the project and ensure an appropriate and timely outcome
  • Control deliverable review and obtain written approval for them
  • Leverage previous experience to be the subject matter expert and voice of reason
  • Communicate project progress and directions to members of the delivery organization and steering committee
  • Raise project issues and risks, as well as quality and scope deviations

Qualifications and Experience

  • 10+ years Project Management experience developing project plans, managing project: stakeholders; teams; scope; risk; schedule and budget’s over 1 million dollars
  • 5+ years managing multiple projects
  • Vendor Management experience
  • Solid presentation, documentation and communication skills
  • Solid understanding of business process and operational workflow analysis
  • Experience successfully leading teams and managing conflict
  • Executive level relationship management & proven track record of working with multiple senior executives who may have conflicting mandates
  • Direct banking industry/financial services experience is an asset but is not mandatory
  • PMP certification from PMI is an asset but is not mandatory
  • Competency in Microsoft office computer software and all necessary industry related software
  • Financial tracking – track-related capital and project expenses
  • Scheduling, development, tracking and on-time delivery
  • Solid effective Change-management experience
  • Very strong organizational and planning experience
