NWM Gives Back to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society

Give back, pay it forward…  these may be popular catchphrases, but at NWM, it’s in our DNA to give!

A great example is our recent $11,000 donation to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society and volunteer activity at the Food Bank warehouse.

We’re extremely proud that fundraising by NWM team members resulted in $11,000 to donate to the Food Bank!  It’s an incredible amount and we’re overwhelmed by our team members’ generosity.

What makes it even more exciting?  With each dollar donated, the Food Bank can purchase three dollars’ worth of nutritious groceries for the thousands of people they support each week!

Along with the donation, a group of NWM team members actively volunteered at the Food Bank warehouse in East Vancouver on November 28.  The group had a great experience working together to evaluate and sort food, from fruits and vegetables to canned and packaged goods, checking for quality, expiry dates, and general preparation for distribution.

Fundraising and volunteering by our team members is made possible by NWM’s growing focus on giving back to the community.  NWM Gives Back is our corporate program dedicated to finding fun and new ways for our team members to either raise funds or engage in volunteer opportunities in their local community.

NWM Gives Back focuses on giving that supports children’s education, health, and well-being, both locally and internationally. It also encourages team member participation.

To that end, the Food Bank is a perfect fit.

The Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society is a non-profit organization with a mission to provide access to healthy food, education and training to over 28,000 people weekly through its numerous food depots and community agencies in Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster and North Vancouver.

We are thrilled to team with the Food Bank, and we’re incredibly proud of the efforts and donations made by NWM team members.  Way to go, team!

The NWM Charity Committee was established in 2010 to encourage and maximize the involvement of NWM employees with our local and international community.  The NWM Volunteer Day provides eligible employees paid time off for volunteering activities.  We would like to thank NWM for this benefit, and look forward to more opportunities to give and volunteer!
